Welcome to DigitalPoe.org, an on-going collaborative project supporting the hypertextual reproduction of the works of Nineteenth-Century American author, Edgar Allan Poe. DigitalPoe.org is an ongoing project, with various exciting expansions in development.
As Poe died in 1849, his work is now within the public doman worldwide.
Poe is best remembered as a poet, literary critic, a leading figure within the Romantic movement. He is also remembered for his work as an editor.
This resource is intended to act as a both a tool of dissemination and reference. It is hoped that by offering Poe's entire body of work in one central location, the volume of individuals reading, examining and appreciating that work will increase. It is hoped that by offering a complete catalogue of works, as well as bibliographic information, a collection of images and other resources, this site may contribute to scholarship, teaching and learning.
This site has gathered its materials from verified scholarly sources, and open standards have been used across all aspects of development and design. Bibliographic data is provided through the use of TEI-compliant XML, and the CSS has been kindly provided under the Creatives Commons License 3.0.
While the finished product that you now see before you is open source, and the future of the project intended to be collaborative, the development has been a privately funded venture by individuals with non-specific expertise. Any feedback on errors, or suggested improvements, will be greatly appreciated.
Enjoy the site.
As revisions and updates are made to the site, they will be outlined here.
